I saw Gadd in clinic about 3 years ago and he was something else.

I had heard so much of hisplaying before, and was more than aware of what he did at clinics, but the vibe in the room was like a spacecraft had just landed and out came life itself.

    YOU MUST GO!!!

By the way, CBrady, you have a Jeff clinic?!?!?!?! SHARE SHARE SHARE!!!

AH, the proverbial mention of a JP clinic--my bad!

It is a short clinic and sound is poor, but it is Jeff hangin' and talking about stuff in a clinic or music school setting in late 80's. I haven't listened to it in a long time. Virgil has some nice stuff when he started hangin' with him late 80's - early 90's. Jeff took him to sessions, amazed at the young kids technical prowess I guess. He saw VD play at UCLA as I understand it and explored this new cat in town.

I've had to deal with some family illness and travel a bit. When things settle down I'll have time to go to the PO. I believe in the US, a single CD posts for under .70

Private email me, I'll do what I can.

If you're up for trading some, I am looking for non-fusion music...old school R&B, funk, classic rock stuff, legendary jazz stuff and some TAIN...give me TAIN. Send your lists.

It is from MI and Jeff is hangin' in a practice room talking with some of the students about drumming and the music biz. Thanks Randy and Pocket.

    It happened, everyone! Steve Gadd
did a clinic, here, in the Chicago
    area and there's more.

I'll wait until Brad posts. He's got
lots of pictures, I think and so do
I, plus a couple of neat stories.

    Be back to you, soon.

As Peter said, Gadd was in Palatine, IL tonight. It was both refreshing and inspiring to hang with Steve Gadd tonight. And, actually, I think, that's how most felt in the busting-at-the-doors crowd. Ee were all just hanging with Steve while he sat there and said: oh, and check this out. Steve did everything, short of putting sticks in peoples hands and moving them around the kit for them. At one point during questions, which actually went on most of the evening, he brought a questioner up on stage and had him stand next to him while he played the groove the guy wanted to see. It was basically request night and Steve shared all. He'd play anything anyone asked, as long as he could remember it. And, he'd play it slow, play it fast, and play it over and over until you just had to get what he was doing. I'd never seen Steve in person before, though I have seen all the tapes and DVDs, but what really struck me is how down to earth, no head-trip bullshit, no just showing off, he literally sat at the drums and asked, "what do you want to know?" It was so refreshing compared to too many clinics where people play, answer a couple of questions and then say adios. I think Steve actually cared that we all understood the sticking patterns and grooves he was discussing.

Peter told his subway token story, and at first I couldn't remember where I'd heard that story before, and thought someone was pulling a gag on Gadd. But, then I realized where I'd heard the story and realized it was Peter. Anyway, anyone within 200 miles that didn't go to this clinic was just foolish. It was really a great time. I'll see him again this weekend in Columbus, Ohio. Maybe I'll try to take some pictures to share there. If your trying to decide whether to see Steve Gadd this week, just go, you'll thank yourself.
